About NCA Matagalpa

The city of Matagalpa is a mid-sized city located about 2 hours north of Managua in the northern mountains of Nicaragua.  Quality education opportunities with a Christian emphasis are very limited in Matagalpa.  Before NCAM opened its doors in 2013, there was one Christian school operating in the city offering classes from Pre-K through Sixth grade.

NCAM is part of the Association of Nicaragua Christian Academy, which began with the openning of NCA International in 1991.  NCAM is the third school in the association, and the first outside of the capital city.  NCAM's primary purpose is to provide high-quality Christian education to Nicaraguan families.  We seek to equip our students for future positions of leadership and to impact their country and the nations for Christ.

NCA Matagalpa opened its doors in February 2013 with first though seventh grade, 36 students grades, grades 1-7.  We finished the 2014 school year with 145 students, grades K-8, and 19 teachers and administrative staff.  We will have our first graduating class in 2018, and expand to pre-school as God provides for staff and infrastructure.  We are grateful for God's provision as we continue to grow.

My Role at NCA Matagalpa

I joined the staff of NCA Matagalpa in 2013 as an English as a foreign language classroom teacher.  In 2015, I will begin working full-time as the Director of Spiritual Formation.  My primary focus is helping to develop a school community in which all students encounter and are changed by the Gospel.
